Who We Are
Little Steps Cleaner Air is a campaign aimed at increasing public awareness about the problems created by ground-level ozone, ultimately encouraging Omaha residents to use active transportation and develop other small habit changes that contribute to better air quality. Managed by the Metropolitan Area Planning Agency (MAPA) and funded by grants from the Federal Highway Administration and the Nebraska Environmental Trust, the campaign offers easy ways for community members to do their part to make the air we all breathe clean and healthy.
Our History
Formerly known as Little Steps Big Impact, the campaign began in 2011.
In that time, we’ve visited dozens of classrooms, distributed hundreds of backpacks to children at community events, and spread our message to thousands of people online and in person. Now in a new chapter of the campaign, the refresh of the name to Little Steps Cleaner Air focuses our efforts even more clearly on air quality and what everyone can do to make our community healthier for everyone.
Metro Area Clean Air Collaborative
Just as one individual can’t change a community’s air quality on their own, MAPA partners with a collaborative team of professionals to support the Little Steps Cleaner Air campaign. Together, the Collaborative helps drive clean air efforts through local schools, businesses and into the community.
The Little Steps Cleaner Air Network
Our growing network of Cleaner Air Champions and Partners span all walks of life in the Omaha metro.
Everyone — even you — can make little changes in their daily habits to benefit the air we breathe.
